Things You Should Know Before Activating Your Cell Phone Reports

One of the amazing features of mobile phones today is cell phone reports. These reports are SMS messages sent to your mobile phone every time any or all of the following circumstances concur:

* an SMS is sent

* an SMS you have sent is received by the recipient

* a call is placed

* your mobile phone fails to receive an incoming call

* billing matters are due

There are basically two types of cell phone reports. The first are the cell phone reports that you activate from your mobile phone itself. By simply fiddling with your SMS settings, you’d discover a way by which you could receive cell phone reports from your unit anytime the first 3 of the 5 circumstances mentioned above is present. The second group of cell phone reports includes those which are sent by the telecommunications company that serves your mobile phone line. Since these two groups depend on the type of phone you have and the service provided by your telecom company, there is no universal guarantee that everyone would be able to receive cell phone reports.

However, even if your mobile phone and telecom service would allow you to receive cell phone reports, there are things you must know before activating such a feature. Let’s take a look at them.

* How big is your inbox memory? Cell phone reports are delivered in the form of SMS. As such, they will occupy your inbox space. If your inbox can only hold 15 messages, for example, then it would be better to turn off such a feature, least you fail to receive more important SMS from actual people.

* Are the phone reports offered for free? This matter really depends on the telecom service you have procured. Some telecom services do charge certain fees for delivering reports, and you’d only discover about them once your bill arrives. Be vigilant. Better yet, take the initiative to know if your telecom service would ask you to spend for such cell phone reports before activating the same.

* Wouldn’t the cell phone reports be redundant? Most mobile phones these days have a log feature where you could check previous calls and SMS sent and received, including the calls you missed or those which you made by failed to connect. If your mobile phone is blessed with this feature, then there is really no need for reports.
